Maktab — Weekday Evening Qur'an & Islamic Studies Program
Qur'an Period
Our Qur’an instruction is differentiated according to each student’s level — from learning to accurately pronounce the Arabic letters, to connecting them, to reading fluently, to memorization. Maktab uses the Safar Publications curriculum, a structured educational system designed specifically for children aged 5 to 16.
Every student progresses through ISOM’s own memorization chart, designed to guide all students through a clear sequence of surahs. Students who excel beyond the standard chart are invited to advance into our dedicated Hifz Track for accelerated memorization.
Islamic Studies Period
For Islamic Studies, Maktab uses a curriculum from An-Nasihah Publications. Key topics covered
include:
- Important facts on the Five Pillars of Islam
- An introduction to Taharah (purification)
- Ahadith on helping others, cleanliness, and speaking the truth
- The childhood and youth of our Beloved Messenger, Muhammad (SAW)
- The stories of Prophet Adam (AS) and Prophet Nuh (AS)
- The Articles of Faith
- The importance of respect and the etiquette of eating, drinking, and sleeping and much more
Qur'an Tracker
Every Maktab student progresses through ISOM’s Qur’an Tracker, a five-level memorization chart spanning from the shortest surahs (Levels 1-2) through intermediate surahs (Levels 3-4) to Surah Al-Kahf (Level 5). Students color in a box and record the start and end date for every surah they complete, giving parents and teachers a clear, visual record of progress. Students who complete the full chart are invited to advance into the Hifz Track.
